Summary

The Instrumentation & Controls TFA supports our growing business in our core business. Interested candidates should have completed and I&C course at a credited vocational school and have some working experience as an I&C technician within power generation industry. The role coordinate the work with suppliers who provide specialist services, Monitoring activities in compliance with EHS regulations, organizing the work activities l and signal unsecure situations and promote working safe.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Understand PLC ladder logic, including basic understanding of how to navigate through ladder rungs while troubleshooting
  • Reading and interpreting the electrical/mechanical flow and instrument diagrams
  • Ensure the correct installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning and maintenance practices are followed
  • Provide general knowledge of turbine instrumentation calibration, including various types of transmitters
  • Provide technical expertise to customers, service support, field technicians and operators
  • Provide timely and accurate internal and external reports
  • General knowledge of loop checking and field instrument testing procedure.
  • General knowledge of instrumentation calibration, including various types of transmitters.
  • General Knowledge of low and high voltage controls, protective systems
  • General knowledge working with RTD’s, (Resistant temperature detector), pressure switches, and other assorted field devices used to monitor gas turbine operation.
  • Good working knowledge of electrical equipment such as meggers, flukes, voltage breaker testers, relay test sets, instrument calibrators, and other test equipment
  • Monitor site safety during project execution, and use EHS equipment in accordance with safety compliance.
  • Extensive travel to and from projects and various field assignments.
  • Work overtime, including holidays and weekends; must be able to work hourly schedules that are not uniform day-to-day.
  • Work inside and outside in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time.
  • Work with hand tools and specialized test equipment; carry equipment up and down stairs.
  • Finalize required reports upon job completion and do other administrative tasks as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Trainee level. Most new hires with little experience on the GE Product will start in this level. Participates in on the job training..
  • Experience with Gas Turbine Driver Control Systems and Auxiliary Systems
  • Experience with MarkVIE controls systems,
  • Ability to understand and implement controls software
  • Wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
  • Availability to frequent travel and work off-shore
  • Strong analytic and problem solving skills
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Excellent customer, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Fluent in Spanish and English
  • Ability to work independently and complete multiple projects within time constraints

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering and/or 3 years of experience without formal degree, in power plant maintenance, turbine generator maintenance, or power plant equipment installation/ commissioning
  • Successful completion of required training programs is a minimum requirement. .
  • Demonstrated progressive, responsible experience with various types of turbine generator equipment and site accountabilities is required
  • Preference will be given to candidates who are familiar with controls and PLC systems Micronet and markVIe

Physical Requirements

  • May be required frequently lift, move, and carry objects up to 15 kilograms
  • Occasionally ascends/descends ladders up to 10 meters and stairs up to 6 floors
  • Ability to work a full time schedule and extended work hours during high volume periods
  • Availability to travel
