Medical Affairs Lead (M/W)

Core Responsibilities:

  • Development of the local Medical Plan
  • Coach to the team of Medical Managers and Medical Science Liaisons (MSL) in order to develop their capabilities
  • Manage MSL and Medical Managers team by following the KPIs and double field visits
  • To be accountable for the medical plan, execution and the budget of all planned non promotional medical activities.
  • Medical expertise and customer insights to the Brand Team
  • Ensure good cross functional collaboration and alignment between Medical Affairs team and other function part of the Brand Team
  • Development of effective interactions with Clinical Operations (both PDG and PA/GPS), including but not limited to placing studies, provide input on feasibility, sites and investigators selection.
  • TAE engagement plan to support medical objectives: identification, development, and establishment of scientific relationship with TAEs
  • Support for Pharmacovigilance activities, including assurance of appropriate adverse event reporting in coordination with Local Safety Responsible.
  • Support for Regulatory and Market Access activities for the particular all Therapeutic Areas products
  • Medical clearance of promotional and scientific materials

Key Activities:

  • The Medical Affairs Lead is a key strategic leadership role requiring therapeutic areas expertise and clear business understanding to identify and address the relevant medical needs of clinical practice, to successfully support the optimal use of Roche products in all therapeutic area.
  • The Medical Affairs Lead is responsible for all the medical activities of all therapeutic areas.
  • The Medical Affairs Lead is responsible for all his/her direct reports responsibilities to be carried out properly.
  • To give coaching to the team of  Medical Managers and Medical Science Liaisons (MSL)  in order to develop their capabilities to achieve company targets within a high personal satisfaction level.
  • To follow-up the implementation of the medical strategies through double field visits with  MSLs.                                                                                                                                    
  • To convey Roche Values to newly hired Medical Managers  and Medical Science Liaison, ensure their competitiveness, monitor their performance and determine their development needs.
  • To make Medical Science Liaisons keep updated their medical knowledge in treatment areas related to the products they are responsible for following the current medical literature, national and international congress, scientific meeting data, Product Strategy Meetings and the new products which are released to the market.
  • To be responsible for the budget of all planned non promotional medical activities and for planning, and execution of all non promotional medical activities of all therapeutic areas including advisory board meetings, preceptorship programs, satellite symposia, regional scientific meetings etc.
  • To evaluate incoming requests of research & educational grants.
  • To ensure all promotional activites are conducted in line with the law, regulations, ICH, GCP and pharma ethical rules and all direct reports has a deep understanding of those rules and applications by acting as a guardian for high standards of compliance, ethics, and safety of all therapeutic areas, putting patients at the center of his/her actions.
  • To provide Medical and regulatory clearance of promotional and informational materials.
  • To ensure that the MoH notifications with regard to all Roche activities in congresses and scientific meetings are made properly and within the required timeframe.

 Medical expertise and customer insights to the brand team:

  • To develop the Local Medical Plan and align the local medical plan with the local marketing, CT/IMT/DST strategy and global medical plan, under supervision of Medical Director. 
  • To identify local data gaps, local studies protocol design, study planning, input to site selection and feasibility assessment, data dissemination strategy.
  • To plan and coordinate the pre-marketing activities to support new products in cooperation with related Marketing function.
  • To link affiliate to Global Medical Affairs objectives to deliver on data generation, knowledge exchange / data communications, and to lead TAE engagement in a scientific manner.
  • To manage Medical Information and publication activities in accordance with regional/local model, referencing global standard responses.
  • To support for Regulatory and Market Access activities for selected products, including preparation of relevant data for new products/indications’ application and label updates.

 TAE engagement plan and execution:

  • To create local Therapuetic Area Expert (TAE) list for therapeutic areas, to establish good relations and organize advisory boards.
  • To be responsible for TAE engagement plan to support medical objectives: identification, development, and establishment of scientific relationship with TAEs and maintain regular contacts with investigators for key studies.
  • To offer expert opinion aligned with global medical recommendations on scientific medical information to identify and develop effective peer-to-peer relationships to execute our product strategies, while holding high ethical standards, compliance to Roche SOPs and local/international regulations. 
  • To identify and develop scientific relationship with external TAE/ experts who are qualified sources of insight and advice.
  • To develop a customer centricity culture, making sure promotional/medical/scientific communications address HCP needs and optimize patient benefit and safety while keeping a fair balance and compliance with regulations and SOPs.

 Contribution to local clinical operations activities:

  • To develop effective interactions with Clinical Operations (both PDG and PA/GPS), including but not limited to placing studies, provide input on feasibility, sites and investigators selection.
  • To oversee the phase III-B/IV trial program by holding effective relationship with the Clinical Operations team.
  • To provide early insights on new products and indications in close collaboration with the PDG group.
