Groupement TouatGaz (GTG) is Neptune’s first co-operated joint venture project in North Africa and employs about 2,000 persons rotating to our Touat site of which around 100+ are engaged by Neptune Energy. Working alongside our partner Sonatrach, production at Touat came on stream in September 2019.  Delivering around 75,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day at plateau (around 450 million standard cubic feet of gas) GTG will represent around 10% of Algeria’s total gas exports to Europe, and will be in production for more than 20 years. The development is located around 1,400 km southwest of Algiers and close to Adrar, and comprises 19 development wells, a gas treatment plant for gas and stabilized condensate with a gathering network and export pipelines. In addition, several Corporate and Social Responsibility initiatives have been implemented near Touat facilities and a number of environmental improvement projects are being considered. A second phase for the development and the investment of around $500m is now being explored which is expected to include, drilling 16 new wells to cover the remaining eight fields, debottlenecking, LP compression, and a major CPF facility upgrade, with the objective to maintain the plateau for many years to come. A further project is underway to provide state of the art accommodation, living and office facilities which is due to complete in late 2021.
