PURPOSE: 

  • The Internal Audit Responsible is responsible for supporting Country Internal Audit Director to provide independent and objective assessment of the reliability and effectiveness of risk management, internal control and corporate governance through execution of internal audit engagements and delivering high quality Internal Audit Reports applying the Global Audit Methodology and Veon policies and procedures.
  • Reports to the Country Internal Audit Director;
  • Performed audit engagements;
  • Applies Group Internal Audit methodology;
  • Maintains effective working relationships with IA stakeholders within the audit engagements;
  • Applies business process improvements and agile innovative auditing techniques.

RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Strategy and Planning:

  • Understands the Regional IA strategy.
  • Contributes to risk assessment as appropriate in preparation of Regional audit programme.
  • Contribute to Regional audit programme reviews as appropriate.
  • Assists as delegated in the preparation of relevant materials for the communication of the IA strategy in the Region.

Customer Focus:

  • Maintains effective working relationships with the stakeholders in the areas of assigned work.
  • Responds appropriately to the feedback received from stakeholders in the areas of assigned work.
  • Actively participates in knowledge sharing sessions and platforms.
  • Stays current on developments in leading audit practices.
  • Aligning with other assurance functions to create efficiency where necessary.
  • Identifies issues and provides recommendations in the area of assigned work that are relevant, commercial and sound.
  • Demonstrate a customer service oriented approach in the conduct of audit engagements.

People Management:

  • Works collaboratively with the co-source partner(s), internal ‘guest auditors’ and SMEs on assigned audit engagements.
  • Actively engages in personal objective setting and ongoing self-evaluation, seeks opportunities for growth.
  • Takes ownership of personal career development.
  • Supports the movement of IA talent across the Regions.

Technical Performance:

  • Proactively assists as appropriate in information gathering, risk assessment and tailoring of audit programs to determine the appropriate nature and extent of audit work.
  • Fully effective in the completion of audits with minimal supervision.
  • Timely delivery of assigned work to a high quality.
  • Compiles with all IA and other relevant VEON policies and procedures as well as with the audit engagements documenting requirements in the conduct of audit engagements.
  • Prepares quality and detailed working papers that evidence the work performed and any observations that arise.
  • Drafts, prepares and submits audit observations for proposed inclusion in the final IA Report, requiring minimal re-write and/or additional queries.
  • Keeps alert in identifying thematic issues across the Region.

Policies, Processes and Procedures:

  • Applies Group IA Methodology, policies, procedures, guidelines, processes, tools and techniques for the conduct of audit engagements.
  • Identifies opportunities to increase effectiveness and efficiency of audit engagements.
  • Uses technology and data analytics (ie. audit and other Veon standard tools) in the conduct of audit engagements. Actively supports the implementation of technology initiatives.
  • Completes all assigned work effectively and efficiently.

PERSON SPECIFICATION :

  • Mature male or female professional.
  • Native or fluent French speaker and business level in English.
  • Must process a minimum eight years’ post qualification experience audit, internal control and finance.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
  • Self-assured and internally motivated, individual driven to succeed and make a difference
  • Strong organization skills.

 

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS REQUIREMENT:

  • Must be qualified by a master degree related with finance.
  • Very strong and deep audit and finance skills.
  • Good understanding of audit methodology. 
  • Robust appreciation of the risks and controls.
