Compliance Specialist (H/F)

Responsibilities :

  • Assists in all aspects of the development, execution and testing of a “best in class” VEON Ltd. (“HQ”) and local compliance program (the “Program”). 
  • Works with the Optimum Telecom Algeria (the “Company”) business operations to ensure the Program, Compliance Policies, Procedures and Guidelines are implemented throughout the Company business operations. 
  • Supports senior leaders of the Company business operations with a strategic, pragmatic, and detail orientated perspective.
  • Provides subject matter expertise and counsel to manage compliance activities, guide internal clients, including senior leaders of the Company business operations, and proposes solutions for complex matters, thereby helping to achieve results and avoiding or mitigating risk exposure.
  • Participates in periodic compliance risk assessments and Program gap assessments related to the Company business operations.
  • Drives meeting the HQ obligations under the Deferred Prosecution Agreement with the US government by leading responses to recommendations from the Monitor, implementing existing and new compliance policies and procedures as they relate to the Company business operations. 
  • Anticipates initiatives and activities of the Monitor and assists with a corporate response to the Monitor’s activities that affect the compliance organization, in particular those that touch on the Company’s business operations.
  • Manages and coordinates internal and external support as necessary.

Qualifications :

  • At least 3+ years of in-house work experience.
  • At least 7+ years of experience in the fields of compliance, law, ethics or forensic accounting.
  • Experienced in an international environment in an international matrix organization.
  • Experience with project management and cultural change management.
  • Comfortable in presenting to executive audiences and ability to influence and convince.
  • Master’s Degree in Law, Economics, Finance, or Management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French, English and Arabic.
