General responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of the company strategies within one’s scope of responsibility
  • Plan and realize travel activities according to country situation, plan well ahead and take all safety measures recommended by local authorities and BASF corp security / local EHS
  • Provides comprehensive business support in a strong partnership with his superior and customers. Supports the MD in administration of company.  Provides consulting to BUs/companies for Algeria.

 

 

Core Responsibilities / Tasks:

  • Lead, coach and develop team as well as reach out to other functional teams.
  • Coordinate all business relevant tasks related to Business Units dealing with customers in the Oil & Gas Industry in Algeria.
  • Elaborate and align on appropriate Business strategies with relevant BUs.
  • Regular customer visits in the defined Sales territory including transnational visits
  • Build lasting and trustful relationships with customers on management and working levels
  • Contribute to a systematic market intelligence and share relevant information concerning markets, customers and competition.
  • Regular business and market reporting

 

 

Functional / Operational tasks:

  • Elaborate and align on appropriate Business strategies with relevant BUs
  • Create a meaningful market concept Oil & Gas based on the Country Concept findings, set priorities and define milestones for the implementation of decided measures in collaboration with BUs
  • Build inroads into the National Oil Company and create transparent and trustful relationships with key decision makers in the head office and at important sites across Algeria. Act as a door opener for BASF visitors e.g. for strategic or technical/commercial discussions.
  • Provide basic technical support service related to
  •  the existing product portfolio (technical presentations, customer visits)
  •  the implementation of new products (product launches) / projects / application according to the SBU strategies of Fuel and Lubricant Solutions.

 

 

What we expect:

  •  Ability and experience in project work (e.g. evaluation of market trends and competitor activities in the relevant markets)
  • Ability to clarify technical and chemical regulations as well as intellectual properties and economical preconditions of projects and product developments
  • Represents BASF in technical committees, conferences and industry organizations
  • Reports on a monthly basis to the Segment Managers and Head of Sales.
  • High degree of performance and compliance culture

            

Education, training required & working experience:

  • Oil & Gas engineer or Chemical engineer, Master degree is a plus
  • Min. 5 years solid industry experience, having worked in the international chemical industry is a plus.
  • Technical and sales experience in the mineral oil industry with focus on refinery additives  and lubricants.
  • Experience in Sales and/or Marketing, an additional degree in economics or marketing is a plus
  • Preferably first leadership experience.
  • Able to deal with complexity and to work under pressure, strong organizational & structural awareness
  • Ready to travel frequently within or outside of Algeria
  • Ability to work in diverse and remote teams
  • Ability to work in diverse and remote teams
  • Good command of relevant MS Office applications as Excel, Powerpoint.
  • Fluent in Arabic, French and English
