1. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Category Specialists are responsible for the establishment, placement and management of appropriate

contracting arrangements with qualified suppliers to deliver the cost, schedule, quality and service

requirements of the business

Category Specialists are not buyers but strategic sourcing experts with specific skills in one or more

“categories”.  They are subject matter experts and they work strategically rather than on a transactional

basis

2. ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Responsibilities in this matter are defined in Abdi Ibrahim Personnel Regulation and employee fulfills

the responsibilities specified in this regulation.

 

3.MAIN DUTIES AND AUTHORIZATIONS

1. Through knowledge of domestic and international supply markets, trends and spend analysis for

own category, is able to analyze demand, markets and suppliers to create basis for decision of the

optimum sourcing strategy

2. Brings new suppliers, service providers and material innovations into the purchasing portfolio

3. Where applicable analyzes sales and operations planning in respect of new projects, assessing

and controlling material costs to ensure effective involvement of sourcing

4. Maintains intensive regular contact with internal/external interface partners in order to recognize

developments (market, demand, etc.) and exert appropriate influence

5. Organizes and executes central and decentralized bundling of the demands of the different

affiliates/sites and projects for optimum utilization of procurement power.

6. Analyzes scope of supply and customer contract agreements, carrying out risk analyses and

introducing negotiation recommendations to prepare for negotiations with suppliers (back-to-back

where appropriate) and to initiate appropriate measures and tactics

7. Prepares and conducts contract and price negotiations, renegotiations and subsequent

negotiations, for medium to large volumes supplies to contribute to the profitability of the company

and finalizes supplier agreements

8. Leads the procurement elements of bids and tenders where applicable ensuring robust definition of

requirements and commercial terms

9. Works with preferred suppliers to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation

10. Identifies and manages category and supplier risks, including those of the suppliers' supply chain

and guarantees an optimum (low risk) supply chain

11. Proactively manages the performance of the suppliers

12. Prepares and delivers category reports, presentations, tracking and monitoring of performance and

cost savings

13. Establishes proper sourcing processes and methodologies to deliver optimum impact of cost cutting

potential (procurement plan, target costing) and to meet requiremens

4. HSE Duties And Authorizations

4.1 Acts in accordance with the company Work Health and Safety rules, directives and politics and

supports all activities.

4.2 Shows great attention not to affect health and safety of himself/herself and others due to behavours

and mistakes.  

4.3 Reports the mistakes, defects and events to Supervisor

4.4 Uses personal protective equipments given to him/her appropriately and carries out maintenance.

4.5 Attends “Work, Health and Safety” trainings

4.6 Takes role at emergency case teams and/or supports the team.

5. Environmental Management System Duties And Authorizations

 

    5.1. Adopts environmental policy of company and acts accordingly.

    5.2. While performing the duties and responsibilities is involved in efforts to protect the environment

    5.3. Shares ideas and suggestions for sustainable environment.

 

6. ISO 27001 Duties And Authorizations

6.1. Uses self authority and data assets of company within the rules determined in policy.

6.2. Protects confidentiality of information assets, maintains integrity and availability.

6.3. Complies with company’s policies, process, procedures , instructions and standards.

6.4. To avoid situations that create security breach

6.5. To be responsible for keeping  up-to-date of Corporate standards and processes.

 

7. ISO 9001 Duties And Authorizations

 

Of the process which is managed by :

8. INFORMATION/SKILL

8.1. Education

University Degree in Economics, Engineering, Chemistry, Business Administration

English as a second language is a must

 

8.2. Experience

Substantial strategic procurement industry experience

Proven category management experience managing direct or indirect materials and services

Demonstrated success in terms of achieving cost savings, reducing risk and improving the value for mone

 

8.3. Job specific Information/skill (foreign language, computer skill, legislation skill etc.)

Able to use effectively MS Office 

Able to speak English well
